Polyanthas!
The Polyanthas, progenitors of the Floribundas and Minis, are renowned for their prolific rebloom and for the charm of their bloom forms. Their growth habits often make them better suited for structural positions in the garden borders than the frequently more floppy Floribundas. Use the diminuitive ones like Borderer to cover the bare knees of Hybrid Teas or to highlight a curve in a garden path. Most fall into the two to four foot range, however the taller growing Leonie Lamensch, with its very healthy and unusual foliage and sparkly variegated orange blooms, is a stately backdrop for other plants in the border that will perform all summer.
The nearly thronless Rita Sammons has all the charm of the small shrub form (four feet) of Cecille Brunner in a pink that is pastel but unfading. In my opinion it is a more prolific bloomer than Cecille Brunner.
Aunt Margy's Rose, introduced by Rogue Valley Roses in 2006, fills a niche for a very fragrant lavender, prolifically booming rose of gracefully mounding, low growth habit. This makes a great pot plant and has many garden uses. Aunt Margy’s is also excellent as a cut flower.
