Licorice Tea
Licorice Tea has Lilian Austin and Monsieur Tillier in its immediate breeding lineage. The charming soft yellow blooms have an intense fragrance of Licorice/Anise and Old Rose. The blooms come in clusters of three to seven, and, when the rose is newly planted, break at the branch tips. On the second blooming, laterals break at many of the leaf axils, increasing the display significantly on all later flushes. Licorice Tea makes an excellent specimen shrub or it can be trained on a support. It can also be grown in a large container if required. Arching growth is to 6x6 feet in the garden. There are few thorns. Foliage is dark green, semi-glossy. Disease resistance is good, but will vary according to climate stresses. Licorice Tea joins Won Fang Yon as another outstanding modern day addition to the class of Tea roses. Photo copyright Paul Barden 2008
