Sombreuil (Colonial White)
For years this rose was, apparently, mistaken for the Tea rose, Mlle. de Sombreuil (also available at RVR). Sombreuil is listed often as a Climbing Tea. Most are now in agreement that this rose is, in fact, the Climbing Floribunda, Colonial White. Since Colonial White is more fitting as the name for paint and everyone knows this excellent rose as Sombreuil, we are going to continue to list it as Sombrueuil with this explanation. At any rate it is a charming, lovely rose with very double creamy white, flat flowers touched with lemon at the center. The foliage is dark and full. Canes are very trainable for pillars, a small arbor, or along a fence. Sombreuil has very fragrant, frequent reliable rebloom Photo copyright Paul Barden 2009.
