Mrs. B. R. Cant
Classified by some as a Hybrid Tea, this is one of few surviving Teas of its kind from the turn of the 20th century. It is reasonable to believe that it is still available in commerce because it has great virtue in the modern garden. Blossoms are a blended smoky pink verging on carmine, with pale pink highlights. Each bloom is very large even by modern standards; about 5 inches, occasionally more. As befits a Tea of this era, 'Mrs. B. R. Cant' has an excellent rich fragrance that is one of its big features. The plant itself is a large growing shrub, often somewhat wider than tall. Bloom is often profuse and repeats reliably throughout the season. Like most Teas, this rose will perform best in ares where Summers are warm and dry. Quite hardy to Zone 6, but may need a bit of protection.
