Incantation™
Bred in United States (2002) by Paul Barden.
Introduced in United States (2008) by Rogue Valley Roses.
Breeder's Comments: This little shrub is a workhorse! It blooms so profusely that it sometimes almost obscures the foliage. I especially like its Clove scent. This plant stands out in the garden because of its bright and cheerful color. Almost totally Blackspot free in testing.
Bloom: Pink blend [pb], pink-red, White edge, white reverse blooms. Deep raspberry pink to red with white picotee and a white reverse. Moderate, Clove fragrance. 12 to 28 petals. Average diameter 3". Medium, double (17-25 petals), cluster-flowered, flat to cupped, in large clusters bloom form. Prolific, Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Small, ovoid buds.
Habit: Medium, bushy growth habit. Medium, glossy, dark green, dense foliage.
Height of 24" to 4' (60 to 120 cm). Width of 24" to 4' . (60 to 120 cm).
Growing: Used for beds and borders, container rose, garden, landscape, shrub or specimen. Zone 6 thru 10. Hardy. Can be grown as a shrub. Flowers drop off cleanly. Heat tolerant. Prefers full sun. Will benefit from winter protection in colder climates. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.
