Gertrude Jekyl ** ®

Gertrude Jekyll is one of David Austin's early masterpieces. We grow it on a fence stretched horizontally in total, but bright, shade beneath an enormous sweet cherry tree. Grown thus and deadheaded immediately after each flush, it reblooms reliably all summer wafting its absolutely heady 'old rose' perfume about the garden. Photo copyright Paul Barden 2009.

Introduced in 1987.
